Ruislip Lido
Marilyn Monroe, Cliff Richard, Sid James, Adam Faith, Arthur Askey, Dr Christian Barnard, Benny Hill, Donald Campbell, Kenneth More, The Goodies, The Titanic, The Loch Ness Monster, Punch and Judy and probably you too have been here! The Ruislip Reservoir and Lido have been a significant part of the local recreational scene for over 200 years. David, one of the Ruislip Lido Railway members and train driver, will talk through the colourful history of the Lido from 1791 to the present.
Speaker: David Ray David is an engineer who spent his entire career in the oil industry which is the only subject he knows anything about! He retired some 14 years ago since when he divides his time volunteering at the lido, the Chiltern Open Air Museum and is the Chair of Governors at a local primary school. He lives with his wife in Northwood, with sons and grandchildren not far away.
