Meetings are fortnightly on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month (except August). They are at 10am at a Member's home.

About our Group

This is a book group with a difference!

Over time, our group has evolved from a purely literary gathering into something more expansive and eclectic. We are now reading books that have films associated with them. We meet twice a month on a Thursday morning, once to watch the film together, and then to discuss the film and the book (which we read privately at home). We did wonder whether including the film would interfere with our enjoyment of the book, but in fact even the most purist book lovers amongst us have been pleasantly surprised. Studying both film and book has been a revelation in perspective, creativity and interpretation that has really enhanced our pleasure and appreciation of both genres. If the film is less or more engaging than the book we have a great discussion about why that is.
