New Orleans to New York and others – A talk illustrated with live piano playing by Roger Browne.

This talk traces Roger’s colourful life of music-making, examines the influences between Jazz and Musical Theatre, and records some of the hilarious events and crazy characters he has encountered along the way.

Be prepared for an hour of music, stories and fun.

Roger Browne’s first performance as a singer was in 1947, as a 4 year old in Post-War Salford. 12 years later, in 1959, he was playing piano in his first semi professional jazz band, touring the North and Midlands.

Since then, he has travelled the world, appearing at jazz clubs and festivals in Europe and North America, accompanying many famous international jazz figures. He has sung, acted in, written or directed, more than 120 full scale operas, musicals, and plays. He is Artistic Director at the historic Manchester Athenaeum Drama Society and President of Stockport Operatic Society.
