PC Yvonne Fletcher and the Libyan Embassy Siege

We recall the 1984 murder of Yvonne fletcher, a young Police Constable, killed by gunmen acting on the orders of Colonel Gaddafi as she policed a demonstration outside the Libyan Peoples Bureau in St James Square, London. We examine the tragic incident that day, the events leading up to her death and the aftermath that reverberated around the world.
We salute the decades long fight for justice by Yvonne’s colleagues who fulfilled a promise to bring the killer to justice. Finally, we confront the uncomfortable truth of our government’s role and highlight the reasons Yvonne became a victim of one of Britain’s worst Policing tragedies.
