On this pre-Christmas trip we will visit Oxford city centre and will have the opportunity to see the Christmas market in Broad Street which is a short walk from the Bodleian Library and Ashmolean Museum.
The Christmas market is located in Broad Street and has many vendors in traditional wooden huts. Food and drink is available along with all of the gift ideas that you would expect.
The Bodleian library is also in Broad Street and can be visited but only as part of a guided tour which can be booked in advance online. The library originated in 1320 and has grown extensively through the centuries to be the second largest library in the UK after the British Library.
The Ashmolean Museum is a short walk from our drop off point and was founded in 1683. It is a world famous art and archaeology museum with free admission although exhibitions may require a fee. Tickets can be obtained at the entrance, but booking online will ensure entry at busy times.
Oxford is a historical University town and the Colleges are found around the city centre along with all the specialist shops and stores and artisan outlets that would be expected. There are larger stores in the centre and the Westgate Mall is a new option for shopping.
