This month’s topic is “Does Milton’s Legacy Affect our Lives Today” with our guest speaker John Dugdale Bradley

Does Milton’s Legacy affect our Lives Today?

Milton 400 years ago was a great champion for freedom and liberty which laid the foundation stone for our current form of democracy. His eloquent writing’s supported freedom of speech and freedom of the press which is so important during these current chaotic times.
Milton’s Cottage is the only surviving home of the poet and parliamentarian John Milton – and the place where he completed his epic masterpiece, Paradise Lost.
Today, Milton’s Cottage is open to the public as a museum. It retains the charm of the 17th century home that Milton would have known whilst housing one of the world’s most important collections relating to the writer on open display. The three museum rooms contain rare books, paintings and prints that give a unique insight into Milton’s life, work and influence.

Speaker: John Dugdale Bradley a Trustee of Milton’s Cottage Trust in Chalfont St Giles, is to give us a presentation of the trust’s museum, collection and literary garden.
