Wine Appreciation 2

Group Leader: Rosemary Hood

The group meets on the first Friday of every month at 14.30 at a member’s house. The meetings usually last between two and three hours.

About our Group

Objectives

The objectives of the group are to taste wines together in a social setting and to learn more about wine, its production and the different characteristics of the country and region where it is produced.

Topics covered in past presentations

In the past we have held tastings on specific countries’ wines, such as France or Spain, or wines made in different countries from specific grape varieties, such as Sauvignon, Chardonnay or Pinot Noir. There have also been themed presentations, including Christmas wines and wines with links to birds in their names or labels.

How the meetings are organised

Members take turns to give presentations and to host them in their houses. The host will provide snacks, such as pate and cheese for members to eat whilst tasting the wines. Members each make a contribution to the overall cost of the wine and the food, currently this is £12 per person per meeting.
